Scholarship Opportunities for STEM Students

The Office of Fellowships connects students with several national and internationally competitive awards available to those in STEM and related disciplines. The application portals for each award are now open, with campus and/or national deadlines in January.

DAAD RISE Summer Internships in Germany

  • Deadline: January 15, 2017
  • Junior or higher standing (also RISE Professional opportunities for graduate students)
  • Provides fully-funded, 12-week summer internships in major German research institutes across STEM and related disciplines

Goldwater Scholarship 

  • Deadline: January 27, 2017
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Sophomore or junior (anticipated graduation date April 2018-December 2019)
  • Intend to pursue a research career in Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Engineering, Geosciences, Life Sciences, Materials Research, Mathematical Sciences, Physics and Astronomy or Psychology.
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • $7500/year

Hollings Scholarship

  • Deadline: January 31, 2017
  • U.S. citizen
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Sophomore-standing (or at least 2 years left of degree)
  • STEM disciplines, including  (but not limited to): oceanic, environmental, biological, and atmospheric sciences, mathematics, engineering, remote sensing technology, physical and social sciences (geography, physics, hydrology, geomatics, or teacher education) that support NOAA’s programs and mission.
  • $9,500 / years, plus a paid summer internship at an NOAA facility with hands-on practical experience
