UM-SMART Program

Summer at Michigan for Undergraduate Research Training

The University of Michigan is hosting a ten week summer research program sponsored by Michigan’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), which is an MD/Ph.D. program. The “UM-SMART” summer program is designed to provide an opportunity for highly motivated and talented undergraduates interested in careers as physician scientists to enhance their science and academic skills.

The main focus of the program is laboratory biomedical research, but it also includes physician shadowing, an MCAT prep course, and an opportunity to attend bi-weekly seminars and a 2 day MSTP retreat in August.
